Questions, answered clearly

Who is eligible to apply?

The current intake is designed for adults ages 18–40 who are interested in patient care, can participate consistently for approximately 25 hours per week, are authorized to work in the United States, and can provide the required eligibility documentation. The application and selection process confirm full eligibility.

Is the program free?

The CNA training is tuition-free for participants who are selected and remain eligible. Applicants should still plan for the time, attendance, documentation, transportation, and other participation requirements explained during selection and onboarding.

What happens after I submit an application?

The team reviews your eligibility, availability, goals, and readiness. Selected applicants are contacted about the next steps, which may include an information session, readiness activities, and an interview. Submitting an application does not guarantee admission.

When and where does the program take place?

Training takes place in Brooklyn, including Kingsborough Community College and approved program locations. The final weekly schedule and attendance expectations are confirmed during selection because clinical, classroom, workshop, and internship activities may occur at different times or locations.

What does the program include besides CNA classes?

Participants receive Uplift U career and workplace learning, certification practice, case-management support, resume and interview preparation, job-development assistance, and continued support as they move toward internship and employment.

Does the program guarantee CNA certification or a job?

No. Uplift provides training, guided practice, and job-placement assistance, but certification and employment depend on individual completion, official requirements, employer decisions, and other factors.

Are Sage and Dr. Williams real staff members?

They are AI support tools. Dr. Williams is an AI clinical-learning coach, and Sage is an AI program and career coach. Human instructors, case managers, career staff, and program leaders remain responsible for instruction, support, and program decisions.

Are practice scores official certification results?

No. Practice and readiness tools help you identify strengths and learning needs. They are not credentials, official exam results, or replacements for official certification materials.

Is the $20/hour stipend automatic?

No. Eligible participants may earn a $20/hour participation stipend for approved program activities. Eligibility, documentation, attendance, activity approval, and payment are subject to program and NYC DYCD requirements.

Do I need healthcare experience before applying?

Prior healthcare experience is not listed as a core intake requirement. The program is designed to help participants build clinical knowledge, professional habits, certification readiness, and career skills. Applicants should be prepared for patient-care training and consistent participation.

What support is available if life gets in the way?

Case managers and program staff help participants identify barriers, coordinate follow-up, and connect to available program support. Available services depend on eligibility, funding, documentation, and current program resources, so applicants should describe their needs honestly during the application and onboarding process.

How does job-development support work?

Career staff help participants strengthen resumes, practice interviews, understand workplace expectations, explore appropriate opportunities, and organize next steps. Employer hiring decisions, job availability, certification status, and each participant’s readiness still determine employment outcomes.
